PRSC Referee Program

PRSC Referee Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Just as Park Ridge Soccer Club (PRSC) provides excellent player development opportunities for recreational and club-level players, it also offers a local introductory training program for those that would like to become soccer officials.

This introductory training is available to anyone over the age of thirteen (or in 7th grade). There are two training  options. The Assistant Referee training consists of one, three hour session. It is a great place for 7th graders to start their officiating careers.  The House League training is structured for 8th graders. It consists of  four, 2 hour evening sessions, held over two weeks. Both programs are held in Park Ridge, once a year, typically in February.

Once completed, new referees are certified to officiate age appropriate House League matches or to serve as Assistant Referees for club matches. The training covers both the spring and fall soccer seasons. After the fall season, officials must recertify over the winter for the next year.  The training program is free. Depending on assignments, PRSC referees can earn $25 to $35 per match.

PRSC has a recommended progression through the various referee certifications. The progression allows new referees to gain experience while working at the best level for their interest and abilities.  With additional training, referees from the PRSC program have advanced to officiate high school, college, ODP, and adult amateur matches.

Information on the progression and the training dates/times can be found by clicking on the "NEW REFEREE TRAINING" link in the REFEREE drop down menu or by contacting the PRSC referee program coordinator
