THE 2026 LOCAL REFEREE TRAINING SESSIONS ARE NOW OPEN

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SOCCER OFFICIAL?

REGISTRATION FOR LOCAL TRAINING IS NOW OPEN

For the past 20 years, Park Ridge Soccer Club (PRSC) has offered an entry level training program for anyone who wants to become a soccer official.

For 2026, there are three training options:

Option 1: PRSC New Assistant Referee (AR)

  • Open to 7th graders.
  • Sessions are Hosted by PRSC, this is an ideal entry into soccer officiating.
  • New ARs will be assigned Assistant Referee responsibilities for U-8, 9, and 10 Park Ridge travel team games. Candidates must attend a 3 hour training session held on a Saturday morning

Option 2: New House League Referee (HL)

  • Open to 8th graders, high school students or adults.
  • Sessions are hosted by PRSC. This is also an great entry level for the older ages.
  • New HL Referees will be assigned age-appropriate House League games.
  • Candidates must attend four, 2 hour sessions held over two weeks and pass a referee test.

Option 3: USSF First Time Referee (USSF)

Those looking for an even greater challenge may choose instead to take the United States Soccer Federation’s First Time Referee Course. This option is not a local training program. It is only available through the US Soccer Federation and is provided in association with the Illinois Soccer Referee Committee (ISRC). It consists of an online course with a 3 hour on the field training session.

Once completed, USSF certified referees are eligible for assignments as an Assistant Referee or Center Referee for club matches. They may also officiate PRSC House League matches if they so desire.
